Dr. Yougui Zheng received the 2016 A.B Campbell Award for the “Best Young Author”. This award is given in recognition of the most outstanding manuscript published in Materials Performance or CORROSION in the current year by an author, or authors, less than 35 years old at the time the manuscript was submitted for publication. This prestigious award was for the manuscript titled "Electrochemical Study and Modeling of H2S Corrosion of Mild Steel", by Yougui Zheng, Bruce Brown, and Srdjan Nešic. CORROSION Best Paper Award: Yao Xiong, Bruce Brown, Brian Kinsella, Srdjan Nesic, FNACE, and Alain Pailleret
Dr. Yao Xiong et al., received the 2016 CORROSION Best Paper Award for the past publication year, which is the highest honor a corrosion paper can get. The CORROSION Best Paper Award is given in recognition of the most outstanding manuscript published in CORROSION Journal in the calendar year preceding the award nomination deadline. The award was for the manuscript “Atomic Force Microscopy Study of the Adsorption of Surfactant Corrosion Inhibitor Films”, by Yao Xiong, Bruce Brown, Brian Kinsella, Srdjan Nesic and Alain Pailleret. Yao Xiong is working for ExxonMobil.

Dr.Yao Xiong and Dr.Yougui Zheng are both former ICMT/Russ College PhD students, who have received these awards for their published papers written while they were still graduate students at the Russ College/ICMT/ChBioDept. These most prestigious awards for the published papers were given by the CORROSION Journal, which is the flagship journal of NACE International, and one of the two most prestigious corrosion publications worldwide. The “clean sweep” by ICMT of the two top publications awards at NACE happens very rarely. The ICMT won the CORROSION Best Paper Award only once before, in 2010 – with the paper by Dr. Wei Sun et al., a former PhD student at the ICMT, now with ExxonMobil. Prof. Nesic congratulated the recipients, stressing that their accomplishments are truly impressive and fully deserved. “This will mean so much in your careers. Winning the best overall paper with Yao's work and now, Yougui winning the best young author in the CORROSION Journal in the same year, this is fantastic! I am one proud academic adviser. It is a great honor for me as well.” Prof. Nesic said.
