Arkopaul Sarkar successfully defended his dissertation, "Semantic Agent Based Manufacturing Process Planning for Distributed Cloud Environment" on December 3rd. His advisor was Professor
Dusan Sormaz in the Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering. His research focused on building a manufacturing planning system, which can generate alternative process plans for a
given product design by automatically discovering and selecting necessary machines and tools from a pool of distributed manufacturing resources, offered as services in a cloud environment.
During his doctoral studies, Arkopaul published 3 peer-reviewed journal papers, one book chapter and more than 12 conference papers. He is currently working as an Application Engineer in ICMT,
responsible for developing corrosion and flow-related software including MULTICORPTM and FREECORPTM.
