On November 12th 2013, the Director General of Higher Education Malaysia, Prof. Dr. Morshidi Sirat, accompanied by Directors of Education Malaysia, Azimah Aziz from Chicago and Prof. Dr. Posiah from Washington DC, and Lorna-Jean Edmonds, OU’s Vice Provost of Global Affairs, visited ICMT, parallel to an education outreach event organized by the Tun Abdul Razak Chair, Dr Habibah Ashari.
Malaysia has major reserves of natural gas, but they can contain significant concentrations of potentially corrosive CO2. So the CO2 acts as the tie that binds ICMT with Malaysia. Petronas, the national oil company of Malaysia, has been a long term sponsor of research in the ICMT since 2008. Three Malaysian students have graduated from this association, while four more students are currently working on a wide range of topics in ICMT. ICMT expects to have a significant Malaysian footprint for years to come.
